Your Compassionate Drill Sergeant

When thoughts turn to welcoming a new year, many people think of crushing obstacles, and creating a newer, more disciplined version of themselves. As a certified health coach, I compassionately ask, what’s going to be different for you this year vs. past years? These 4 elements can help you solidify changes.

4 keys for making lasting health changes

  1. Mindset Management

Know your Why (forget willpower for making lasting changes) and try to connect to your inner compassionate drill sergeant. That’s the inner voice who isn’t going to let you slide for repeated behaviors that are self-sabotaging (e.g. making excuses for missing workouts) but also isn’t beating you up. There is a compassionate space in-between.

  2. Environmental Management

Managing triggers in your everyday environment and knowing your personal vulnerabilities is key for making progress in the weight loss and wellness improvement journey. Understanding how to set yourself up for success is critical to making long term progress and getting out of your own way.

  3. Be Accountable

When we go together, we go further. With an accountability partner and guide, it’s much easier to go the distance. You can also see your blind spots more clearly and minimize them.

  4. Be Realistic

We don’t move mountains; We move one rock at a time. Setting realistic and measurable goals and having reasonable expectations (eg 1-2 pounds of weight loss per week ) is optimal. Too often, new year goals fail because they are too lofty and bold.

You can practice and solidify these four key principals in our January Get & Stay Started Program. Learn more and save your spot today. With a low cost, renewable 4-week commitments, proven tools and virtual access, it’s an easy YES to your future healthier self!
