Making Peace with Your Body

Self-love is a form of self-care (and not conceited at all)

Dear health improvement seeker,

A woman I recently started partnering with made this statement when we first connected and we were exploring how she was feeling:

“I’m tired of feeling like I’m always angry with myself for letting myself down.” (Mic drop)

Sadly, this is a common mental space to inhabit, but I want to assure you (as I did her), that there is always an opportunity to think (and act) differently.

And goodness, how I could relate to her statement. For too many years to count, when I wasn’t behaving in alignment with my health values, I felt very similarly. (Insert former addictive behavior here: daily diet coke drinking, daily glass of wine —sometimes 2. There were even years when I was younger and much less wise that I regularly smoked.)

I want everyone reading this to know this truism:

Beating yourself into change rarely works

This foundational principle is one I encourage all my clients to adopt. I assure them that we can go thru a different, kinder doorway when we are focused on shifting our habits and improving our health. We can learn to accept ourselves as we are and then even to love our physical form as a new approach to change. (Yes, even when we aren’t particularly pleased with it’s current size/shape.)

Self beatings only leave us feeling battered and bruised

We each are gifted with one body to last our whole lives. We can embrace newer habits to treat it with reverence and appreciate it for all the amazing ways it serves our life.

Message me to begin shifting into a more peaceful mode. Your relationship with yourself (physical and emotional) colors everything you do. I’d welcome a judgement-free, no-obligation chat with you.

To your abundant health and joy,
