SUGAR OVERLOAD
In the aftermath of the holidays, many folks are feeling the effects of sugar overload— almost like a hangover. What’s the solution? If a January detox feels too extreme, simply becoming more aware of how much sugar you’re consuming on a daily basis and cutting back is a positive action to take. Either way, you’ll win by feeling more energetic, reducing your type II diabetes risk and you may even see positive progress towards your happy weight.
Quick facts about sugar
The typical American consumes 22 teaspoons of added sugar every day (nearly a half cup!)
The healthy daily max is 6 teaspoons for women and 9 for men (24 grams/36 g).
Added sugar is what’s harmful to our health. The naturally occurring sugars in fruit are not harmful.
